Album Info: Late in the evening of March 26, 2015 SRT AD24C #4302 was involved in a rear end collision with a standing train near Ban Phachi Junction, Ayuthaya, Thailand. According to eyewitness reports 4302, with mixed train #107, ran through a red signal and collided with the rear end of mixed train #69 after that train had experienced braking problems and had stopped for repairs. The collision badly damaged the 4302 and 3 cars of #69's train. The Engineer and Brakeman on 4302 suffered severe injuries, as well as up to 40 passengers on both trains who were injured; thankfully there were no casulaties in the mishap. Judging from photos of the damaged Alsthom -everything above its frame is gone -it is doubtful the 32 year old locomotive will ever be returned to service, especially as an order for new Chinese built locomotives are coming on line at this time. Fortunately I had photographed the 4302 at Paholyotin Yard's engine facility about a year previously, so with that in mind, I submit this tribute... [ Information courtesy of the Bangkok Post.
