Album Info:Here are several original photos of Pennsylvania Railroad subjects by Mr. Douglas C. Jones that were taken at and near the East Altoona Roundhouse in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, circa 1953. The actual order of succession is not recorded. All of these images come from negatives that I purchased during several eBay auctions conducted by Mr. Jeffrey K. Frangione in May, June, and July of 2021.

In the center is the smokestack marking the location of the Roundhouse Power Plant. At the far right are the Eastbound Locomotive Ready Tracks. And in the foreground is the creek bed for the northern branch of the Juniata River, flowing left to right, on its way to Tyrone.

Parked in the foreground (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6835, #9889, #267, and the tender of another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. #6835 is an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in March of 1957. #9889 is an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1915 and retired in October of 1958. And #267 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata in December of 1917 and retired in June of 1957. Over in the Westbound Classification Yard, an unidentified Class I-1S (2-10-0) scurries about. To the left of its tender, the "Scooter" operator transports Yard Brakemen back to the top of the westbound hump at HOMER Tower (not shown at right).
