Here are several original photos of Pennsylvania Railroad subjects by Mr. Douglas C. Jones that were taken at and near the East Altoona Roundhouse in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, circa 1953. The actual order of succession is not recorded. All of these images come from negatives that I purchased during several eBay auctions conducted by Mr. Jeffrey K. Frangione in May, June, and July of 2021.

Here is the second of four original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken just East of the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1071, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in Juniata as an I-1S during November of 1918, rebuilt as an I-1SA in June of 1941, and retired in August of 1959 after 41 years of revenue service. In this context, it's shifting a string of high-and-wide special loads. In the left background is the southwestern face of the 50-stall East Altoona Roundhouse. In the center is the smokestack marking the location of the Roundhouse Power Plant. At the far right are the Eastbound Locomotive Ready Tracks. And in the foreground is the creek bed for the northern branch of the Juniata River, flowing left to right, on its way to Tyrone.

Moving away from the southwestern face of the Pennsylvania Railroad's East Altoona Roundhouse and about to pass under the Bridge is engine #4266, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in April of 1949, and retired in March of 1953 after 30 years of faithful service. Here is the second of four original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is the "coast-to-coast" tender assigned to Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6432, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, they've just exited the East Altoona Roundhouse but have stopped short of the Bridge.

Here is the first of three original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Parked in the foreground (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6835, #9889, #267, and the tender of another locomotive whose road number is not recorded. #6835 is an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in March of 1957. #9889 is an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1915 and retired in October of 1958. And #267 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata in December of 1917 and retired in June of 1957. Over in the Westbound Classification Yard, an unidentified Class I-1S (2-10-0) scurries about. To the left of its tender, the "Scooter" operator transports Yard Brakemen back to the top of the westbound hump at HOMER Tower (not shown at right).
