This General Electric drawing from May 1937 illustrates the basic appearance for 80-tonner serial numbers 12184-12188, which were buil} in October and November 1937 as demonstrators for the Cummins Engine Co. (Note that the step locations varied or changed over time.) Serial numbers 12184, 12186 agd 12188 were subsequently sold to Republic Steel, while 12185 and 12187 went to the Northeast Oklahoma Railroad as 254 and 253, and in 1949 they became Louisiana Soushern 505 and 504. Both of these units were scrapped at Chatham Iron and Metal in Savannah, Georgia. |

This was Goldin Industries No. 2 at Gulfport, Mississippi. The little loco was a 15-ton Brookville Model BCL, serial number 2646, built in July 1941 as Ingalls Shipyard NL-2 at Pascagoula, Mississippi. It was subsequently Goldin & Schwartz Scrap Co. 2 and the Goldin Industries 2. |

Model 40 |
| Description: |
Built on 29 August 1942 as U.S. Army 7953, this little loco was one of only 11 Model 40 diesel-electric switchers built by the Electro-Motive Corporation and its successor, the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors. Built between August 1940 and April 1943, each 4-wheel unit weighed between 40 and 44 tons and was powered by two 150HP Detroit Diesel Model 6-71 truck engines. It looks like serial number 2285 spent its entire life in southeast Louisiana. Known owners included the Gulf South Warehouse Co. in New Orleans (which may have been its original assignment for the U.S. Army), American Creosote at Southport, and the Green Brothers' Coastal Sand & Gravel operation at Lacombe, where it was photographed in derelict condition. |

| Description: |
Railway Equipment Leasing Co. S2 1049 was parked on a siding along the Illinois Central Gulf in the Baton Rouge area, without a front coupler or some steps. Relco units were very common along the ICG between here and New Orleans because of the many industries along the Mississippi. The locomotive was built in June 1948 as Seaboard Air Line 1432 before becoming Seaboard Coast Line 48, and it had been retired in August 1976. |

The railroad had been owned by the City of Galveston, but it was sold to Rail Management Corp. in 1987 and renamed Galveston Railroad (GVSR). All of RMC's 14 shortline railroads was subsequently acquired by G&W Industries in 2005. |
