Album Info:The Hook & Eye was L&N's original line between Atlanta and Chatanooga. The line had many steep grades and sharp curves, and was prone to rockslides and floods. The lines name came from two famous features of the line, The Hook, located north of Talking Rock, GA was a extremely sharp double reverse curve that bypassed a ridge. The hook was bypassed in the 1950's, though traces can still be seen today. The Eye; the far more impressive of the two is a feet of engineering to be marvelled at even today, the Eye, also known as the Hiawasee loop circles a mountain near Apalachia Tn twice crossing over itself to ascend 60 feet on a 1.5% grade.
