Frankford Junction, Pa. Jan. 11, 1971." Penn Central #8356 is a DS 4-4-660 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as Pennsylvania Railroad number "9037" in May of 1949, rated at 660 horsepower, renumbered "7837" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger, and later renumbered "8356." This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Baldwins in Action ~ On North-Eastern Railroads" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (892-04). |
