Description:  The two jobs that will interchange with the Owego & Harford met at Owego. We see D 22, the Mills Job, coming toward us with a commonplace set of GP 9us. It is meeting NS local H2A(they pick those symbols out of a hat, really) with GP 38 rebuild 5577 on the east end. Between the two trains are a total of five cars.

Description:  A deer is contemplating the approach of D 22 and its 11 cars south of Depot Hill Rd in Port Crane. I dont know if he got the shot, but he, and a now unseen companion, beat it into the woods before getting mashed by a GP 9.

Title:  413 surprise
Description:  SOO units on 413 were not a big deal. The trailing unit, however, was another story. The GP 9 rebuilds were almost exclusively assigned to yard and local jobs by this time, so seeing one on a road train was quite unusual. There must have been no other options at Binghamton this morning, as there is one trailing the lead SOO SD 60. They got over the hill in good form with 48 cars.

Title:  Odd mix
Description:  Train 413 heads north behind an odd mix of power. SOO SD60s were not a big deal on road trains, but the GP9s were-and this one is one of the few painted for eastern lines subsidiary St Lawrence & Hudson. The yardmaster must have been scraping for anything he could get that morning. 48 cars was not taxing the units.

Description:  D 22 rolls 19 cars north behind an SD40/GP 9 combination. Usually the consist was GP 9s or 38s. The other GP 9 must hate had a problem, since the SDs were rare on this job. Its late March, but theres still snow on the ground here. Theres a lot more at the top of Belden Hill, even as spring grudginly takes hold of upstate.
