Number 1207 was built in January 1953 (c/n 75447), one of four RS-12's (#'s 1206-1209) shipped to CNJ in January 1953. All four were equipped with steam generators and SKF roller bearings. The careers of the RS-12's in commuter service were short-lived, and they were soon placed in freight service. Retirements began around 1970, and by late 1972 only 1207 and 1208 remained at work. By January 1973 all of the CNJ's RS-12's were retired. |

Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8776 and another unit whose number is not recorded. #8776 is a BS-12AMS road switcher built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in September of 1952, rated at 1,200 horsepower, and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service.
