Description:  Here is a photo taken by Mr. C.H. Brady. It was published originally in the August 1945 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 5. Partial Caption: "The Pennsylvania's direct-drive steam turbine locomotive is now in regular service between Chicago and Crestline, O., going east each day on the 'Trail Blazer' and west on the 'Admiral.'" Shown here is PRR engine #6200, the S-2 (6-8-6) "Steam Turbine" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1944, rated at 6,900 horsepower, and retired in January of 1952 after just eight years of revenue service.

Description:  FM. Here is a duplicate 35mm B&W slide of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania. Photo Caption: "Two K-4's and a T-1 on a 28-car express. (T-1 is hidden by smoke and shadow.) November 8, 1949." In the lead is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #949, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1918 and retired in November of 1951 after 33 years of faithful service. This photo comes from a slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (22-50).
