Description: |
A CN local passes the site of the former depot and approaches Gasset Rd. as it pulls 9 cars northwest via former SOO rails at Dunbar, WI on 30 Sep. '14. Not sure where train originated, but it was headed for Goodman, WI. Gasset Rd. is a remnant of the Dunbar & Wausaukee right of way, which formed a junction with the SOO just out of frame to the left. The depot was built by the SOO ca. 1887, a photograph of the depot and the junction can be found at: http://www.midcontinent.org/imagedb/postcard_detail.php?record_id=411. Supposedly the depot was moved to Laona where it is used by the Lumberjack Steam Train. The well-groomed ATV/snowmobile trail used to be Depot Rd. |
