Well-weathered Seaboard System U30B 5540 was leading the southbound STELLA TURN through the siding at Gonzalez, for a meet with No. 605. This 6-day local originated at Goulding Yard in Pensacola, and was returning home. The train's primary purpose was switching and lining up cars at the paper mill at Cantonment and interchange with the Frisco. Stella is the next station north of Cantonment; however, the train seldom went that far unless it had business at the small woodyard that used to be located there.
