I was fortunate enough to catch this locomotive running on this day, when I had assumed it was going to be idle for the winter. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad offers steam and diesel-powered trips during a May through December season, from Cumberland to Frostburg, Maryland. They also do special chartered photographic runs, which was the case on this day. This engine is a 1916 Baldwin 2-8-0 built in their Richmond Shops. It was pulling assorted freight cars of the "fallen flag" variety and a caboose which carried the chartered passengers. |
