BO 4-6-2 5043 - Baltimore & Ohio RR  Contributor's Pick!       
Built by Baldwin in July 1911 as 2-8-2 class Q-1 #4111 with 24X32 cylinders and 64" drivers, it was rebuilt by the B&O in 1916 as class Q-1aa (26X32 cylinders, same road number) and again in 1924 as a 4-6-2 class P-1c number 5043 with 26X28 cylinders and 74" drivers. Date and location unknown but prior to 1956. Photo credit was given to Ralph Dunn of Philadelphia, PA.

Tom Davidson General The caption creates some confusion as to the engine's history. This engine built by B&O Mount Clare Shops in 1924, using the boiler from Baldwin Q-1aa 2-8-2 4111. She was retired in 1956 as 5043. 10/14/2015 3:03:35 PM
