c1895 On the back of the print: “Known as the Lazy 8 at Mattawamkeag Me“ The MEC Roster shows several 4-4-0 locomotives numbered 8 in the early years thru 1910. I suspect this is most likely one of the later ones based on the tender lettering scheme. If so it was built by the Portland Works in June of 1886 serno 540. It was renumbered to #51 in 1900 and scrapped in June of 1907. Cyl 17x24 with 69 inch drivers. Date is an estimate. /DL |
