PRR 8705, FS-24M, 1960
Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, during November of 1960. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #8703 and #8705. Both are FS-24M's built by Fairbanks-Morse in 1956 and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. They are pushing an eastbound coal train toward Gallitzin and the New Portage Tunnel. This photo taken from the State Route 53 Bridge just West of Gallitzin, which is visible in the distance. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
