| Here are portions of pages seven and eight of an 18-page cover article by Arthur D. Dubin entitled "The Broadway Limited: A Salute To Pennsy's Finest And Its Fabled Predecessors." They were published originally in the February 1962 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 22-23. Shown here is the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Pennsylvania Special" being pulled by engine #1395, a D-16A (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata during May of 1898, rebuilt as a D-16 in October of 1911, and retired in March of 1923 after 25 years of faithful service. In this context, it's powering the four-car "Pennsylvania Special" through Jersey City, New Jersey. |
