PRR 9811, EF-15A, c. 1951
AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 13 August 1951. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9811 and two more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9811 was constructed in April of 1951. In this context, this A-B-A set is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train that's about to round the Curve on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.
