On the cloudy evening of Thursday March 12, 2020, I lucked into a NS train on the Lordstown Secondary while on my way to picking up dinner. C01, operating push-pull style, heads out of Youngstown towards Lordstown with NS #3017 (GP40-2) and NS #710 (RP-E4C) on the west and NS #5338 (GP38-2) along for the ride on the east end. In the shadow of the former Youngstown Sheet and Tube Brier Hill Works, the train entering a concrete "tunnel" under which the Lake Erie and Eastern once passed overhead. C01 is operating over the former Pennsylvania Railroad PY&A main. |
