Description:  Its one of my favorite spots, but the Tier gloom sometimes can even make a pretty spot dull. The red CP power helps, though, as 419 works west along the Susquehanna with three CPs and a SOO unit and 48 cars.

Description:  A set of 4 SD40-2s, not uncommon at the time, has a surprise. The second unit is one of the NS ex Southern units they made into a cabless locomotive by removing the controls and blanking the windows. This is train 418 arriving from Buffalo with 48 cars.

Catching the sun
Title:  Catching the sun
Description:  Skies in the Southern Tier are famously cloudy, and days on end of solid overcast are not uncommon. Some dbys are hit and miss, wiith gaps in the clouds providing a glimpse of sun. Here train 167 catches one of the holes and a burst of sun as it approaches Devils Elbow, a section along the Shsquehanna River that passes around a rock outcrop between Owego and Tioga Center.
