Description:  Caltrain 909 roars into Diridon Station with a southbound train. The F40PH-2CAT will soon be replaced by new electric trainsets. The first electric trains are due to arrive in mid 2021, and service was due to begin in mid 2022. However, there was a recent announcement by Caltrain that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the begining of electric service has been delayed to 2024.

Caltrain 182
Title:  Caltrain 182
Description:  Caltrain 182 glides into track 5 at Diridon Station. 182 was built in 1997 for Metrolink. In the mid 2010s, Metrolink took delivery of newer equipment, and the Bombardier cars were placed in storage as surplus. In 2014, due to increasing ridership. Caltrains board approved $4 million to purchase 16 of the surplus cars, and they entered service in 2015. They differ from the Caltrain cars as they have riveted sides instead of the welded sides of the newer Caltrain bi-levels.

After arriving on platform 5, the train will wait for around 20 minutes, departing at 4:24 PM as train #309 northbound. Today, 921 is accompanied by a set of Bombardier Bi-Levels of mixed Caltrain and Metrolink heritage.

Description:  Caltrain 921 idles at San Jose Diridon early in June. 921 is one of 3 Boise Locomotive F40PH-2Cs, built in 1998. These units are essentially the same as stock F40PHs built by EMD, with some minor modifications and differences. 921 will depart shortly on northbound train #309 bound for San Francisco.
