Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8613 and #8608. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. #8613 is an AS-24M built in August of 1956, but #8608 is an APS-24MS built in December of 1955. They're serving as tail-end pushers for a 93-car mixed-cargo freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. The cabin car pictured here is PRR #477807. |
