Description:  The 1926 Lima built 0-8-0 switcher is getting some routine ash cleanout by a crew member in the Omaha yard. The unit was one of 85 members in the SW8-51 class built by various companies from 1924-27. Most of the class was retired in 1955. No photographer was listed for this photo.

Description:  During a 5 year period, Baldwin, Alco-Schenectady and Alco-Brooks built 173 of these 2-8-0 Consolidations for Missouri Pacific. Note the sharp looking marker lights. Description:  This 1930 Lima built locomotive had 63" drivers and could generate a boiler pressure of 240 psi to deliver to its 28"x30" cylinders. The engine was a hefty 412,000 lb and it could produce a tractive effort of 76,160 lb. It was converted to a 4-8-4 configuration with 75" drivers sometime between 1940-42. Description:  This 1924 Alco built Pacific-type loco had 73" drivers and could produce a respectable boiler pressure of 200 psi for its 27"x28" cylinders. Title:  MP 2-8-2 #1565 - Missouri Pacific
Description:  Built by Alco-Brooks in April of 1925 long before the later EMD GP15 wore the same number came along, this heavyweight 2-8-2 Mikado and its sisters served the Missouri Pacific well into the mid-1950's. MP #1565 mae it all the way to 6/15/1951 before being scrapped at North Little Rock, Arkansas. Specifics - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 330,840 lb, tractive effort of 62,949 lb. Robert Graham photo

Title:  MP 2-10-2 #1706 & MP 2-8-4 #1920 - Missouri Pacific
Description:  Double heading a long string of freight cars are MP 1706 & MP 1920 at the 21 Street Yard in St Louis. #1706 was originally built for the St Louis, Iron Moutnain & Southern Rwy by Alco in 1916 but acquired by MP in 1917 during the merger. It was a SF-63 class with 63" drivers and could produce a boiler pressure of 188.5 psi to deliver to its 30"x30" cylinders. It had an engine weight of 370,000 lb and a tractive effort of 68,668 lb. The last of the class was retired by 1955. MP 2-8-4 #1920 was a 1930 Lima built Berkshire but was converted to 4-8-4 75" drivers in 1940-42. Comment on the back reads "#75 running extra at 2pm". R.J.
