The Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, PA built this Chicago, Burlinton & Quincy 4-6-4 Hudson #3010 in November of 1930 (serial #61557, class S-4). The loco was especially well suited for the Burlington needs - high speed, dependable, and powerful. The successful locomotive was able to serve for nearly 30 years before being sold for scrap in December of 1960. Specs - 78" drivers, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 391,880 lb and tractive force of 47,700 lb, Elesco feedwater heater, Barco Type 4 power reverse gear, Franklin trailing truck boosters and Type B stokers. Unfortunately, no date, location or photographer was listed for this photo so approximate date and location was assigned. |
