This is a nice roster shot of MILW #1034 takne in an unidentified location in Iowa. Baldwin built this 4-6-0 in September of 1902 as CM&StP Vauclain compound ten wheeler #413 (serial #20974, class B4) but the loco was renumbered several times starting in August of 1907 to #1763 > in September of 1912 to #4363 > in June of 1924, the loco was simplified and renumbered to #2634 and finally in September of 1938 to MILW #1034. The loco was scrapped in September of 1954 after a successful 52 year life. No exact location in Iowa, no exact date in 1953 and no photographer were given for the photo so approximates were used. This photo was taken by rail fan C. Cook and is now in my rr collection. |

Sadly, with the bell gone and the weeds growing around it, this once busy loco now sits in the storage/scrap line at the Austin, MN Yard. It only had a few months before it was scrapped. Baldwin, 9/1902, serial #20974, nee-#413 Vauclain compound, renumbered in 8/1907 to #1763, renumbered in 9/1912 in #4363, renumbered and simplified in 6/1924 to #2634, renumbered in 9/1938 to #1034. The loco was scrapped in September of 1954. No date or photographer was listed. |
