Baldwin built this 4-6-0 loco in August of 1901 originally as CM&StP Vauclain compound ten wheeler #378 (serial #19473, class B4) but starting in August of 1907, it was renumbered to #1728 > in September of 1912 to #4328 > in July of 1015, it was simplified and then renumbered #2878 > in NOvember of 1920 to 2870 > and finally in June of 1938, it was renumbered one last time to MILW #1053. After 51 years of dedicated service, the loco was scrapped in December of 1952 to make way for the diesels that were taking over. The photo was taken by a rail fan known as Anderson. |
