Title:  4021 To The Rescue
Description:  UP 4021 is the rear helper on a westbound train rounding the curve at Buford. The extra train, led by UP 4011 had departed Cheyenne with 37 cars of Bauxite ore, causing the train to stall near Granite. 4021 was sent by the dispatcher to rescue the train, and help push it the rest of the way up Sherman Hill. Title:  UP 4021
Description:  The engineer and fireman of 4021 lean out of the cab as she prepares to depart Cheyenne. 4021 had undergone maintenance in preparation for operation in 1959, but due to a strike this never came to fruition, and her last run would be in 1958. She was stored in Cheyenne, marked as unserviceable. Eventually, time would catch up to the 4-8-8-4, and the 4021 would be cut up for scrap on August 31, 1962. Title:  UP 4017 Undergoing Repairs
Description:  During the last shoppings at Cheyenne in 1957, UP 4017 sits disassembled with a cylinder boring machine attached. On the next track, UP 4021 is shown. 4017 was built in December of 1941, the 4021 was built in 1944. 4021 was scrapped in 1962, while 4017 was donated for display to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Title:  UP 4021
Description:  Big Boy 4021 sits forlorn and abandoned on a siding in Cheyenne just after Christmas, 1959. Steam is all but extinct on the UP. A Big Boy will not run again until 4014 is repaired and restored in 2019. Note that the rear light door is open and the windows are covered in 4021, and the number boards and pistons have been removed from the Big Boy ahead of it.
